Okay, so I'm just wondering where to start getting my card recognized by Media Portal. Currently it says I have no card.

I downloaded a media-center type app from Avermedia, and it sucks compared to Media Portal, but I am able to watch live TV, time shift, and record with it, so obviously the card works.

I should also mention I am able to select my Avermedia codecs within media portal, although it does not detect the device still.

Link didn't really help much. It's a generic guide that doesn't really offer me any help as far as "why doesn't my hardware appear to your program"

Take a look at the requirements section in chapter one and make sere you have all the required software before you get started.
I believe some of the software mentioned is:

Net Framework 2.0
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)
All windows updates.
SQL server express or MYSQL

After you’ve covered all of these requirements then you can go ahead and start the installation of Mediaportal, Mediaportal TV Server, and Mediaportal client plugin, etc. (Check the guide, I am sure there is something i'm missing)

In order to get it right you’ll have to follow the wiki guide step by step.

If you are not interested in eventually getting QAM channels, then just adding the capturecard definitions as explained in the first link you mentioned will allow you to watch analog channels, or at least it did for me I should say.

Sorry, I was a little frustrated. Okay, so I got media portal to detect my card. I even got it to start tuning channels. However, when trying to play analog TV, it freezes after about 5 sec, although the audio continues to work. I also tried downloading BeyondTV, and I actually had the same problem. The only place it fully works is in the AverMedia software that I downloaded from their website. It works great for the TV part, but sucks for everything else.
