Hi there,

Firstly, let me say: THANK YOU! MediaPortal is totally awesome and I use it in our living room on the following system:

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz
Mainboard : ASUSTeK Computer INC. P5GC-MX
Model: ASUS 82945G Processor to I/O Controller
Front Side Bus Speed : 4x 200MHz (800MHz)
Total Memory : 2GB DDR2
Memory Bus Speed : 4x 167MHz (668MHz)
NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT
Pinnacle PCTV 310i PAL Stereo DVB-T Capture Device
Microsoft Windows XP (2002) Professional 5.01.2600 (Service Pack 2)

This is attached to a Samsung 40" 1080P LCD TV, allowing me to watch movies in glorious HD. The only snag I have is getting the TV card to work. I have been through your forums and tried the various fixes for the Pinnacle 310i and am still unable to add it under MediaPortal configurator?

It's now got to the stage where I'm just gonna get a differenet card and thought I'd ask you guys what the best one to get for my system would be. I have a Virgin Media HD plus subscription, so is it possible to actually use a CI and CAM with this in the Uk, or is it best to get an analogue / DVB-T card and connect it up using a remote blaster of some kind?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, as I don't seem to be able to find a definative answer to this in the forums.

Hey Spragleknas, thanks for the warm welcome!

I've updated my system specification section, so I hope that gives you enough to know where I'm at? Up to now I've just been trying to use the My TV area in the latest stable version of MediaPortal. Is it best to use TVE3 instead and will this work with Virgin Media in the UK if I get the right CI and CAM?

Thanks ZenPC

I think I'll leave this to the British members :)
TVE3 is what is being focused on ATM - not TVE2.

Btw: You have to enable the "My System" feature.

Oops, have now enabled it. Hopefully I'll get an answer from the UK members. Thanks for welcoming me to the forums!

TVServer is where the development is.
I use it very well in the UK with DVB-T Freeview and my Sat channels (Sky, Setanta & DigitAlb)

As for Virgin Media AFAIK the Floppy DTV DVB-C card with Dragon CAM works to a fashion.

so is it possible to actually use a CI and CAM with this in the Uk,

Have not heard of any success on this.

analogue / DVB-T card and connect it up using a remote blaster of some kind?

That seems to be the commonest workaround.

TVE3 may work with your card, but have you looked here.

    Hey guys,

Thanks for your thoughts on this - I think I'll try the Flppy DTV card and see how I get on. I did try the fix you mentioned Paranoid, but with no success. Have yet to try TVE3 tho, which I will do soon. Are there not any UK residents out there that could post their success of using Virgin Media with MediaPortal?

    Thanks again
