Which hard drive do you use with this skin? (1 Viewer)

I'm running streamedmp from a 2tb Western Digital Green hard drive and it's pretty darn clunky. I mean, makes sense - every time you move the cursor it has to load a new 1280x1080 JPG so It's going to need a faster drive to be smooth. Just wondering what kinda drive speed I should have to be able to navigate the menus and record live TV at the same time because the 80MB/s I'm getting out of the WD2TB Green isn't enough

I highly doubt its your Hard Drive causing the lag, I have 3 htpc's all using 5400rpm laptop drives and I dont have a problem.

Try the latency checker, there is a bottleneck somewhere, make sure any antivirus\antispyware or even defragger does not have access to Movie\TVSeries or recording folders, someone also suggested excluding MP installation directories from being scanned as that caused them problems with playback.

do have a 2TB Samsung ecogreen, that wont be faster than the WD I believe and have no issue.
Also have one system with a 160GB 2.5inch HD (4.200rpm) that should be slower even and it works flawless.

The new 2TB WD green drives have an auto park feature, maybe this is activating?

60GB OCZ Vertex SSD. Everything flys.

80GB Intel SSD, no problem here either.
Although sucky that when returning to basichome you have to wait o couple of seconds for it to load, but thats a bug and has nothing to do with the hdd.
