Hi guys,

I'm thinking about moving my media center out of the role of exclusively playing back local and internet based content and trying my luck with the whole PVR thing.

I live in San Diego where COX is my cable provider. I think they typically use the HDExplorer 8000 Digital Box. I am running MP 1.0.2 on XP 64 Bit.

Who here is using their MP based PVR with Cox and...

- How have you got your hardware set up?
- Do you record in HD?
- How do you connect your set top box to your HTPC?
- Are you using 64bit? (Do I need to go back to 32bit?)
- What CAN'T you do with your setup?
- How do you control your channels?
- Overall how happy are you with the results?

Looking forward to seeing what others are doing.

I use MP PVR features with ComCast in CA.

- How have you got your hardware set up? Click My System on the left of the forum post.
- Do you record in HD? Yes.
- How do you connect your set top box to your HTPC? No STB. I only watch the free HD for now.
- Are you using 64bit? (Do I need to go back to 32bit?) 32bit, 64 should be fine.
- What CAN'T you do with your setup?
Would like another HD video capture card to record multi channels concurrently.
Have to manually delete scrambled channels. (one time during setup)
Have to manually identify and label channels. (one time during setup)
- How do you control your channels? Microsoft MCE remote, or Voice activated (I recently started using MyVoice plugin - not perfect but very cool to impress your friends).
- Overall how happy are you with the results? Once it is configured I am happy. Buy big HDDs to store all those shows - HD takes up a lot of space. For this reason alone it beats TiVo. Note that I can record a show and use the TV s built in tuner to watch a different channel concurrently.
