Why can't I change the mapped keys? (1 Viewer)

In the keys and sounds section of the configuration utility I keep trying to change the 'Previous Menu' key from 'esc' to 'backspace' but I don't see any option to save the change. When I open configuration.exe again the command has reverted back to 'esc' what am I doing wrong?

Because I wasn't running configuration.exe as admin, a simple permissions issue
