Why does music sound low-quality? (1 Viewer)

I just started using Media Portal, running latest SVN build.
My audio is going through SPDIF to my AV receiver.
Movies with DTS or Dolby sound great, but when I play music in MP (mp3) tje sound seems like it's low-quality. I can play the same MP3 in XBMC, and it sounds fine. XBMC sends music to my AVR as Dolby Digital, whereas Media Portal is sending as PCM, could this be the problem?

I understand this question is very vague and has many factors, but I was just curious is this may be a problem that people come across often with MP.

Any ideas?

Should "use windows device" or "use ASIO device" be selected in the plugins config? If the latter, what should the first & last channel be?
