Why MP drawing text on screen? (1 Viewer)

I have a question for GUI and font PNG file when I study MP source code. Why MP drawing text on screen? Why don't you using text fild of the C# GUI component? For example, the label component has a text filed that allows you to fill in your some text string. Same as label, list box, and so on.

Boring Subject

Well, is anyone can give me some idea or suggestion about how to improve capacity of the font engine which is located in mediaportal/core/fontengine directory? I have been working on it for a while and I don’t have any good solution for decreasing demand of the video memory that is required 256 MB of the video memory for supporting Traditional language.

Properly I should change to another subject. Regarding to XBMC project, Xbox is not very high-end machine which is 733Mhz Intel Pentium-III CPU and poor frame rate. My question is as follows,

• Is anybody can tell me concept of the font engine in XBMC project?
  Why can it support different language at the same time?
  Is any future plan to integrate this advantage into MP?

hi isaac lin,

i don´t think you will get much answers on the forum here.
this is a very basic feature and as far as i know the direct3d or directx stuff is sth which calls for some specialist programmers. Most likely the only person that can answer your questions is Frodo, but he is very rarely on the forums and even in irc these days.

I´ll try to get frodos, dman or mpods attention for your thread when i am on irc, as i really would like to see mp cover asia , too in the future?
