Wierd icon and non response when playing split files (1 Viewer)

Hello there,
My MP works perfectly fine and i'm very happy with it, but it does a weird thing when i try to watch a movie that's been split into two files.

I can play single avi's no problem, but occasionally (in this case Die Hard 3) the movie is split into two 700mb files. It look like MP supports this, because when i go to it's folder, it only shows up as one file. when i click play, MP presents a picture of two overlapping cd's at the top right and does nothing else.

i've left it for 20 minutes and all that happened was the screen saver came on.
There is no disk activity, and mp is quite happy for me to click back, or go back to the main screen.

any idea's why it won't play split videos?

Did you try pressing enter/select with one of the disc icons highlighted?
With my split movies, if I highlight the second disc and press select, then the 2nd part of the movie plays.

ah, i think that's when you see both of your parts
Mediaportal has a feature whereby when it sees two files in the same directory ending in cd1 and cd2 it displays them as one file.
then when you got to click on it, you get the two cd icon...

I am having the EXACT same issue. It just sits there. I guess this is just a BUMP to hope someone knows the probem/resolution!

SOLVED...

Just hit OK on one of the two DVD's at the top. This is new since my last upgrade. It used to just play the split file as one. Now it gives the option of playing first or second part.

I am having the EXACT same issue

Are you getting the same, 2 cd icons showing up, and if you select the first it does not play, please always be specific as to what YOU have done to produce problem.

There is also a post about Cd1 Cd2 works, but not CD1 CD2, do not know whether that has been fixed now in current svn.

hi Pd,
When media portal spots 2 avi files with the same name ending in cd1 and cd2 it only lists them in the menu as a single file (without the cd1 or cd2) when i click it's then the little icon appears in the top of 2 overlapping cd's.
nothign else happens, and i can push back and mp continues normally.
but, of course, it doens' play.
My current workaround is to rename (in windows explorer) the second file to fdsanjkdfhs and then both files appear in MP and i play them individually.
i'm going to rebuild my box and try it with different codecs (and ffdshow etc) and see if that makes a difference).
I'm also getting a huge delay on channel changes, but one issue at a time

I just built a new MP system with the latest RC1 build. So far, all the split files now play.

So you mean there is no way you can select\play the CD icon to start your movie, which is what you have to do.
