Hi,
new to this and liking it so far.
unlike MCE my first play with Mediaportal is very positive and it was simple to set up and "just works"
what a refreshing change!
I have hit a slight stumbling block on my second machine.
I use an old Toshiba laptop for a bedroom HTPC and currently it locks at the "initialising directX" screen.
now although the specs say the graphics chipset (852GME) supports directX9 I am wondering if this may be my problem.
in fairness the laptop only has 512Mb RAM so I need to improve that but I don't want to do this if the graphics are not compatible with Mediaportal anyway.
it currently runs Vista media centre without issue so I was hoping that if it could cope with MS bloatware I would be OK.
could anyone confirm if they have Mediaportal working on this graphics chipset?
I really hope so as I don't want to have to go back to VMC if I can avoid it.
I will try a fresh install of Vista or XP and see if that helps but this was a fairly recent install
