Hi,

I got some serious problems with video playback of any kind (no matter if SD or HD). When using EVR as video renderer i get some frame drops every minute, resulting in stuttering. It is independent of the used video codec (I tried any K-lite and SAF codec). I have vsync enabled and refresh rate is fine for the content i tried.
Funny thing is, if i have any overlayed menus active, playback is just fine, when i switch to fullscreen video only mode i get the frame drops and stuttering again. Anybody experiencing the same problem or even better solved it?

MediaPortal Version: svn 8/1/10
MediaPortal Skin: StreamedMP
Windows Version: win7 ultimate x86
CPU Type: Athlon 64 X2 4850e
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F2 1.5TB
Memory: 2GB
Motherboard: Asrock 790GMH
Video Card: HD3300 onboard
Video Card Driver: ATI DNA driver 9.4

I confirm since last build of december. LiveTV Full screen is not as smooth as before with HD3200 Catalyst 9.12 + SAF test 2 unlocked with Win7 32bits. Especially with Divx it is even worse.

Hmmm I'm still wondering why its gets way better as soon as you have any overlayed window active. I switched back to Vista now, it gets slightly better but still not perfect. When i watch a video i get some frames dropped and every 10th frame is a sync glitch. If I press any remote button so a dialogue comes up, everything is smooth, no dropping or glitching.

Any suggestion? (besides leaving some dialogue open all the time...)

I have exactly the same config :
    HD3200
    ATI Catalyst 9.5 (I tried 9.5 , 9.12 , 10.2 same issue)
    Win7
    SAF 4.0 RC2
    EVR enabled

and indeed since the last svn from december (The one for Christmas was working) I have frame drops in EVR mode when it is OK in VMR9
I was hoping the RC1 would solve the issue, but I installed it yesterday and still same issue

This is a case for SD and HD content and on Videos or Live TV

    Any feedback?
    Thanks a lot in advance

Meanwhile its more or less working for me.
I have the following setup now:

    win7 32bit
    Radeon 3300
    Catalyst 10.2
    Latest Klite codec pack
    Mediaportal 1.1.0 RC1
    EVR

I use the MPC codec for mpeg2 and the DivX H264 included in the later versions of the klite codec pack for HD. I get no more dropped frames (maybe 1 every 15 minutes), not sure about out of sync glitches since this is not i the graph of the RC anymore but everything looks perfectly smooth. With this setup i also get a nice 1080p playback at really low CPU load.

    Hope this helps.

For me, with an ATI 4670, SD tv is smooth but HD has sometimes loss of frames... As I said in another thread the problem disappears if I use the directshowhelper.dll from last SVN so something must have been changed... If it makes sense I can post logs...

I confirm. I have sudden frame drop while playing live TV.
    Config:
    Win 7 32 bits
    HD3200 (256MB aperture) with Catalyst 10.2
    MP 1.1 RC1
SAF 4.0RC2 with PDVD 9 as livetv codec + EVR
Dynamic refresh rate activated/disactivated it is same.

I have not try check "packet loss" in tv server.

    Hmmm,
for me still the HD codec makes the biggest change, using the Divx h264 for HDTV works really well, anyother (also PDVD9) gives bad performance. I read the Divx h264 codec is more powerful on multicore systems, but this shouldnt be the problem since the CPU load is also fine with any other codec.

With SD-TV i get no problems. Have you tried using VMR to check if its related to EVR?

Yes indeed I checked VMR9 and this is working smoothy with it (THis is my current setting) .
As soon as I switch to EVR I have frames drops , and a lot, to a point it is not watchable
(I upgraded to catalyst 10.2 but no change)
