Hi,

I've roamed across the internet withou finding the answer to my questions. Or, actually, I have found many answers, although the dont work :-b

As can be seen below, I have an Asus Xonar HDAV1.3 soundcard that I like alot. My AVR is a Pioneer LX72.

My problem is the following: No matter what settings i do in
- Windows
- Asus Xonar control center
- AC3filter
- Mediaportal

I can not get a 5.1 signal out of my Asus Xonar card to my AVR. My AVR-display always show "PCM" no matter what mix of settings I use. I'm missing someting, please help me find out what. TV, music and videos works fine otherwise, its just the 5.1 and bitperfect that are missing (for the later I will get TMT3 in the future).

Settings:
--------------------
Windows 7 (64-bit)
--------------------
- Playback Speaker
- Properties:Advanced: Default format 24-bit, 48khz (test works fine)
- Configuraton:confused:peaker setup: 5.1 Surround speaker (test works fine)

--------------------
Asus Xonar Control Center
--------------------
- HDMI active
- Sound channels: 6
- Sound format: PCM 48 khz
- HDMI out: 5.1 speakers

---------------------
AC3 filter
---------------------
- Output format: Use SPDIF / Rate: As is / Format: 24-bit
- Mixer: All unchecked
- SPDIF:
* Output format: Use SPDIF / Rate: As is / Format: 24-bit
* SPDIF Passthrough: AC3, DTS
* SPDIF/DTS Mode: Auto
* SPDIF/DTS conversion: Do not convert
* Options: Detect / Use AC3:Do not encode / Restict: 48 khz
* Directshow options: Check output / Disallow
- System:
* Use AC3filter for: All formats
* Filter merit: Prefer AC3
* Default audio: Use Direct sound
* Directshow: Check output / Disallow PCM

-----------------
Mediaportal
-----------------
- No postprocessing enabled (when I had AC3filter enabled the DVD went totally quit)
* Video codecs
- MPEG2 Video decoder: Cyberlink video/SP decoder
- H.264 Video decoder: Cyberlink H.264/AVC decoder
- AC3 audio decoder: AC3filter
- AAC audio decoder: MPC - MPA decoder filter
- Audio renderer: Default Directsound device
- DVD Codecs
* DVD Video: MPC MPEG2 Video
* DVD Audio: MPC - MPA decoder
* Audio renderer: Default Directsound
* Use AC3filter
- MPC - MPA decoder
* AC3 decoder settings: Decode to speakers: Stereo (have tried SPDIF = silent)
* DTS decoder settings: SPDIF
* AC3/AAC.... format: PCM 16-bit

I have fiddled with all possible combinations, but these are my current settings.

Obviously I'm missing something simple, please advice!

Regards

M

Hi

Did you ever resolve this as I have just picked up the soundcard and getting same problems except with DVD and Blu Ray as TMT3 sorts these for me?

Thanks.

No, no luck so far. I just gave up and removed everything except MP-basics and try to live with it until I find something easier/useful "how-to" descriptions.
