Started on: 2013-01-07 last update: 2013-01-07 Summary: MediaPortal Windows 8 remote control app Area: Remote Control Description: I have recently acquired a Microsoft Surface RT tablet, and have been thinking about how this would make a useful MediaPortal remote. This would give functionality over and above the Hauppauge remote I have, such as being able to use the onscreen keyboard, etc. I would also be able to browse for movies etc on the tablet while still watching live TV. I have some experience with writing Windows 8 apps, so if someone could point me in the right direction (how to connect to MP via TCP/IP and issue commands etc - is this even possible?), I would be happy to do the work required. As an aside, is there any way to restart the TV server from a standard remote? About 1/2 the time I resume from sleep I have to restart the TV Service in order to make it work (I have fiddled with the card detection time setting). Also, if I turn my TV off (HDMI connection) and on, the volume control will stop working on the remote :(
