Windows Media Center (1 Viewer)

Hi, is there something I should do with Windows Media Center before I install MediaPortal? That is do I have to disassociate as go-to application for live tv?

I am fed up with Media Center because it insists on the infrared being set-up (not as easy as sounds) and having to use its remote. I have a digital cable box and I assume I would need to use the remote for changing channels, right?

ive only every installed it on xp mce 2005 and vista ultimate but had not configured them. seemed to work ok without doing anything else.
