Does TV Server work for anyone?

I don't understand why I can't find any channels but media center and every other program works just fine. The problem is I would rather use media portal.

I have not had any success with my 950Q with MP.

Current Tv Servers
ATSC WinTV HVR-950 BDA Tuner
Analog WinTV HVR-950 Tuner

For some reason MP does not find anything on the ATSC WinTV HVR-950 BDA Tuner, and won't find anything with any of the QAM selections.

The Analog WinTV HVR-950 with cable selected finds channels but then when I go into media portal and go to tv guide it shows the channels but when I try to watch them, it says no signal or unexpected error.

Anyone else ever exp this, or know what the problem could be?

I am in the US

Check My System and you'll see I'm running 4 tuning devices... Please update your My System so we can tell what MP version, system hardware & OS you're using. Also it would help to know your country (as the tuners are different) and the drivers you have loaded for this tuner!

Fancy system... win 7 but have you rebooted and allowed Win 7 to install ALL the drivers for the tuner? Check Device Manager for unassigned components. The USB devices are tempromental but once going they seem to do fine! How familiar are you with MediaPortal? Do you know you have to assign the channels to the card under TV-Server? Do you SEE the channels in the Preview pane of TV-Channels? No need to go beyond TV-Server if the issue is with the tuner... Did you try a mix of 64-bit & 32-bit or stick w/all 32-bit installations? NOT that I know but I'm on 32-bit, totally - apparently not all drivers work or are developed to do 64-bit... that's a part of why I stuck w/32-bit.

Also use the Manual Control section under TV-Server to force a TimeShift of the tuner. Again, this will display the signal strength and is a clear sign if it's not working here then it won't be ANY better under the main MP application. Do you have a TV guide working?

There is only one driver that is listed and available for my tuner so I am assuming it is a 32 bit driver. I don't think they would offer one default driver and have it be a 64bit driver haha. It does not matter if my OS is 64 bit I can still use 32 bit apps and drivers. They get installed in the X86 folder. I didn't know I had to assign the channels. But now I am finding nothing at all. It won't find any channels for the ATSC or the Analog. Again Media Center works great and finds all channels, and my cable provider. It finds everything. So how is media portal not finding anything?

So...I am assuming it is an issue with MP. I provided my logs so hopefully someone can take a look at them. This is clearly not a driver issue. Because the tuner works on other programs. Unless there is a specific driver that I need that is not part of TV Server. But that would not make much sense.

First I could not even scan for analog channels because it said I needed a audio/video encoder. So I searched the forum and found similar issues and someone mentioned to DL WinDVR trial because it would install the encoders I needed. Well that worked and allowed me to scan in media portal but it still didn't find any channels haha.

    Anyone else have any suggestions?

Hooked it up to my actual HTPC, and Tv Server found channels, they are assigned to the card, they show up on the guide although there is no data information. Any channel I try to watch it says there is no audio/video. Seems like there is going to be no way to get this to work. Kind of a bummer. Guess it is back to Media Center.

Is my Tuner not supported with MP or what, it finds channels on analog, but I can't view them. What is the problem. Are there any other TV plugins I think the default one is very strange and think it could be much simpler just like most other TV programs.

All other programs I have used with this TV Tuner just ask for my zip and then my provider whether cable or antenna, then it searches and it is done. I don't have to bind channels to cards or crazy thing like that, once it finds the channels they just work.

I am using my tuner right now in media center recording tv. So I just don't understand why on earth media portal tv server is not working with my tuner.

I borrowed one of these... well, close. It was not the Q version but the 950. When Win 7 saw it it was reported as an HVR-980 and there were no drivers available. So I looked on the Hauppauge site and they claim to have an installer pack with the drivers... NOT. I googled this and even the MS Win 7 site acknowledged HVR-950 compatible drivers and sent me to the Hauppauge site for them... again: NOT. I tried loading drivers for the 950Q and everything got hosed up... while I finally did get MP to see the tuner in TV-Server it would not actually tune the ATSC channels. I'm DONE trying to test my buddy's HVR-950 on my Win 7 machine. I even lost my AVerMedia Duet card and Hauppauge IR.exe as well! What a crappy experience... I had to crack-open my case, remove the Duet, boot, power-down, reinstall and power up before Win 7 saw the Duet again! And for the IR.exe I had to roll back and RESTORE an earlier day's programs to get it running again! YES, I tried Stopping IR and RESTARTing IR but it would not stay running... it would show up in the Task Manager, no icon in system tray and then disappear from Task Manager.

I am of the opinion that the HVR-950 is NOT Win-7, MP 1.1.0.0 RC4 compatible. I am not saying anything about the HVR-950Q. Buy the ATi 650 Combo USB (if you need a USB device) as I know it works on my system!

Well there we have it, I have to correct you though it is compatible with Windows 7, just not Media Portal because like I said it works perfect in Media Center haha. Yea I was thinking about getting a different tuner anyway. I would like to get a dual tuner. Is there any way I can go from a cable box to a tuner to get all the channels I get on my cable box? If so what kind of tuner would I need for that?

Some would agrue CableCard but the available technology is doing cable's analog NTSC via a NTSC tuner and snag as many Clear-QAM digital stations from that cable provider's feed as well - look at the HVR-2250. You can't get scrambled channels, premium or PPV with this, only open channels. Are you tied to USB? Are you tied to cable? How about an antenna for your local ATSC broadcasts?

I have just been going straight from the wall. I have comcast cable. So went from wall to a splitter from splitter to cable box and USB tuner. I could never go from my cable box to USB tuner in Media Center because it says I need to hook up an IR to my cable box, there is no way to hook one up and always says it can't find it. Seemed like there was no way around it. Just trying to get as many channels as I can or all of the channels I get from cable box.

I have not used an antenna, but it still seems to be picking up some HD channels just depends on when there broadcast I guess. Because it is not a solid HD channel, just sometimes something is on in HD.

It seems that card you posted would be no different then what I am using now. Besides working in MediaPortal.

So is there no way for me to get all the channels I get from Comcast onto my tuner. Basically just want to be able to use it as a DVR haha.
