    Hi guys, Merry Christmas!

Would really appreciate some help on this one, trying to play the file spec as below, and just not able to achieve stutter-free playback, initially was using SAF v5 latest release (I think the 2nd of December 2010 release) but am I correct in thinking that the SAF codecs aren't able to play VC-1 files smoothly? This was a fresh install on a completely virginal Win7 64bit system.

Following that I uninstalled SAF codecs and tried Antipack and Shark007 codec packs, the Shark007 on the suggested settings. My hardware is as detailed above and I would really really appreciate some help as to where to go from here.

Currently have completely reinstalled Win7 and will be making a system restore before installing any other codecs so I can just start with a fresh system before any attempts to sort the problem out. Having tried to play it in WMP it seems to be fine but using MP with the Win7 codecs selected results in awful random stuttering.

Anybody got any suggestions I would be most grateful

Here's the file I'm trying to play!

    All the best

    Neil

    Hi.
You should not have any problem to play VC-1 progresive using latest SAF5, only interlaced VC-1 is not supported.

WMP should use MediaFoundation instead of DirectShow to play *.WMV formats.

If you can post small video smaple, i will test it.

    Thanks Hoborg,

Have tried a completely fresh MePo and Win7 64bit install.

Have attached my log files and a screenshot of graphstudio.

How do I make a small video sample to post to you?

    Cheers

    Neil

By some reason, FFDshow DxVA decoder is not in use, without sample i cannot say why, rest (graph) is OK.

BTW, you have some crashes in MePo, maybe some plugin doesnot work correctly, you should look on it.

Not gettting any errors in Filmerit or DXVA Checker.
Could it have anything to do with ATI Catalyst? I installed it with all the default options.
Can you recommend a program to make a small sample for you Hoborg?

    Much appreciate the help.

The MePo problem is not connected to WMV playback - "MiniDisplay plugin problem"?

    From your LOG:
    Code:

WMV is MS "closed" format. I have zero experince with create/edit WMV files. Is not there any MS editor?

Right, I'm aware of the problem with minidisplay plugin, on my list of things to do!

Just going to try creating a sample for you to test, what sort of filesize do you want and how would you like me to send the sample to you.

Thank you Hoborg, you're a star!

Long enought to reproduce your issue.

Just let you known VC-1 format is "epic fail", only causing troubles...
You should get your video in h.264 format...

Fail or not but Blu-ray disks contain sometimes it as a encoding format - actually 1080i is better for sports and fast movement than 1080p since it has better movement tracking after being deinterlaced (48 fps vs 24 fps).

VC-1 itself migh be a epic fail, but in any case the VC-1i only is not that :)

    Well the plot thickens...

Copied the file across to my HTPC and if I open it up in Graphstudio it's now using the ffdshow DXVA Video decoder, and is playing perfectly!

I normally stream from my WHS so I tried the original file streamed from my server. Stuttering returns, making me wonder if it's more of a network problem.

Anyone know any good tools to look at my network streaming side of things?

(Have already got demigrator.exe disabled so I know it's not that)
