WOL + IR-Control (1 Viewer)

Hey everybody,
As an advanced newbie with MP, I'm trying to make my HTPC accesible with remote control. WOL in combination with IR are proposed by www.irtrans.de
Has anyone done this project? In case of a 'yes', which part(s) did you use?

If you are talking about an IR receiver that wakes the PC via WOL, you should first off check that your mobo even has a WOL connector. Most modern mobos ship with onboard LAN with builtin support for waking on network activity and hence do not include an onboard WOL connector.

Most modern motherboards are capable of Wake-On-USB, so go for a USB receiver instead. The MCE remote+receiver is the easiest one to use and also the cheapest AFAIK.

I will keep the MCE remote+receiver in mind. I was wondering if the MCE supports WOL (is present on my mobo). In other words; can MCE send the magic packet?
