Hi all,

I have been trying to get WOL working on my newish HTPC but no luck so far though.
The mobo has a realtek 8111C netwerk card in it, I have set the wake up events for both PCI-e and PCI (the NIC is connected on PCI-e so the first one should cut it). Also configured the driver settings in windows to allow wakeup and disabled such things like green ethernet (dunno if I have to though) but still no luck.

I noticed that the LEDs on the LAN port turn off when it goes to standby eventhough I told Windows XP not to turn it off.
Anyone can provide me with some help? I've searched the internet back & forth only to find people with similair problems but no solutions...

I'm thinking it's either the driver (although I already tried a couple) or the NIC chip, maybe the mobo itself, not sure.
Thinking about buying a new mainboard anyways because I think the one I have is a piece of cr*p. It has other issues with startup too (takes a long time, something with the AHCI driver I think), which it does not when booting to save mode.

Well enough of my ranting, any of you guys some insides for me?

p.s.

According to realtek
;
To support WOL from a deep power down state (e.g., D3cold, i.e. main power is off and only auxiliary exists), the auxiliary power source must be able to provide the needed power for the RTL8111C-GR.
Well sure, that's kinda obvious. Realtek says it should be supporting wol (as there are options in the drivers as well)

    Have you checked the motherboard manual, maybe you need to set some jumpers to allow for wake-up?

    Yeah I did, it does not mention that. There are some jumpers which I'm not 100% on what they do though.

    -------EDIT-------

    Well I did not expect this. As mentioned I tried a couple of drivers, being desperate I finally tried the antiquated driver that came on CD and bam it works...
    funny :) That driver's like a year old according to internet
