Hvaing installed the latest Mediaportal and MovingPictures I've succesfully managed to play most of my movies . However I set the h264 codec to DivX Pro (which I bought) and find that although the movie plays fine in WMPlayer and DivX player the error Unsupported format AVC comes up when I try and play it in Mediaportal.

Can someone please suhggest what is goping wrong?. Other H264 files play OK

Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm reluctant to use SAF as it requires all other codecs to be removed. As i have purchased TMT3 and DivX this does not seem a sensible solution. I converted the mp.4 to .mkv but still MP wont play it. Again they play fine in DivX player and WMP so why not MP? It would be ideal if the TMT3 codecs (and the SimHD add-on) could be used within MP but I gather this is not possible either.

For a solution that looks so good the basic premise of actually playing all the media I have falls well short of what I expected.

I was led to believe MP would play everything "out of the box" but it clearly doesn't. Can't really understand why the current version is released as a "final" if playability problems still exist.

Again they play fine in DivX player and WMP so why not MP

Then you have possible errors in your filters, not sure whether the TMT3 may be interfering with Divx codec, so it is not being set by windows to use by default.

Try running filmerit, link in signature and see if it shows any errors.

By the way, do you mean .mp4, as no such thing as mp.4

    righthandside 3/4 way up
It does play everything as long as the correct codecs are installed and are not screwed up
your comment about why its final and playability issues is invalid therfore. there is no playability issues.

I play all media with MP and never had issues, again like PD says try running filmerit to see if issues exist
failing that, why not give SAF a whirl it doesn't hurt and if you dont find it works you can reinstall your others

Aslo have you selected the codec in the videos tab for codec???
