In MediaPortal 2 we are using UPnP for all communication between client and server by using our own UPnP services, i.e. for distributing fanarts to clients (#1, #2, #3), which are downloaded by the server. Daniel (Albert) wrote our own UPnP library (#1, #2), because all the existing ones had some disadvantages. Regarding UPnP/AV: McGoober started already a plugin development of a MediaRenderer / DLNA plugin. Unfortunately he is busy with real life and had to stop development. We are happy to get people on board, who would like to continue the work on the MP2 UPnP/AV plugins...
