    Hello,

it seems so its a bug in fullscreen playback in MediaPortal.
The black isn't black - Its grey.

    System:
Windows XP Sp2 all Updates and DVB-Patch
Test1: ATI Xpress200 on-Board (test with ATI dirver and Omega drivers)
Test2: Nvidia FX5200 (only with Forceware driver)

In all other software (like MediaPlayer, PowerDVD WinDVD...) the colors are correct when playing a video. But in MP the blacklevel isn't correct.
This is with all medias like mpeg1, mpeg2, dvix, Xvid ...

The only way to get correct colors and a correct blacklevel is to use ffdshow (for avi and for others via post process). Then select the filter "level" and set Input Black to 16.
That meens input 16-255 convert to 0-255. So you get the original TV, Video,... with correct colors.

    @the development:

is it possible to make an Option in MP to correct the levels?
    for Example 0-255 to 0-255, 16-255 to 0-255, 16-235 to 0-255 and so on.

    by the Way:
MediaPortal is the only on MediaCenterSoftware! :D
    All others are nothing!
The skins are great, the operation is perfect and all others too! :D :D
Gread job Frodo and the others !
    :!:

Maybe the gamma/contrast settings only work in the default codec. If you want to adjust these settings do it in the configuration of the codec you are using.

At the moment I using the nVIDIA PureVideo Codec. In the options you can adjust the brightness/contrast/saturation.
    1. set brightness lower that black is black and not gray
    2. set contrast that higher for the white correction
    3. correct saturation for the colors

for Avi and so I use the ffdshow filter level input 16-255 output 0-255.
Also you can use ffdshow with post process to correct the level but the cpu load is higher and there are some stuttering.

The best way was to correct the level in MP but there is no way at the moment.
I hope for the next cvs and the release of 0.2

    best regards

This is what has frustrated me as well. Are you guys aware that consumer electronics (like DVD-players) use the range 16-235 instead of 0-255? Could there be some bug in converting the material from source file to the native PC 8-bit range?

    regards

if your using an ATI card adjusting the contrast and brightness under fullscreen 3d is the best, since it wont affect your desktop and it will apply to all content played in MediaPortal.

however, you should'nt noticible the difference with VMR if your display is calibrated correctly.

i'm not entirely sure ... but i think this is what vmr9 is supposed to use 16-235, not 0-255. i know with mce (which uses vmr9) this is the case, and you need to calibrate your display device around this.

to adjust the settings for correct colors is a little tricky.
I have some test pictures author to a dvd. So you can better adjust the settings.
    Someone interest?

I have the same setup but feel a bit stuped asking: where do I find the controls?!
I can reach the PureVideo codec settings when using zoomplayer through "filters" but any changes I make here only affects video playback in zoom player.
From the Nvidia icon in tray I can only reach settings for ordinary 2D and 3D. If I change levels here I change the levels of everything including the desktop so that does not work either.

    Please help!
