MediaPortal Version: 0.2.3 RC3
MediaPortal Skin: Blue Two
Windows Version: Vista
CPU Type: AMD Athlon

Hi !
Having some problems with upgrading from 0.2.3 RC2 to RC3 under Vista . After installation and when starting MP, the splash screen displays the wrong version (SVN from August), even though I've done a complete reinstall and deletion of all MP directories before instlling RC3. I also have another strange sideeffect, no "log" directory is created (thus I can't post any logs).

The only thing I can think of is of is if I somehow have messed things up when playing around with plugin development, so that somehow an old DLL is being loaded.

Anyone got a clue to offer?

Did you delete Program Data\Teammediaportal\mediaportal folder, as thats where the settings are stored.

You have to enable show hidden folders for this.

Deleted the whole "Program/Tem Mediaportal" folder (It's not called "Program Data" on my machine- should it be?)

There's Program Files folder where MP is installed and Program Data Folder, the data folder holds the config files, so these may be interfering with your update.

Both would have to be deleted for a clean install of MP.

Tried removing everything in "Program Data/Team Mediaportal/Mediaportal" as well, but the problem remains. Now I found the logs, so I'm attaching them..

Yes looks like when you installed RC3 you left the Data folder untouched.

Recommend you uninstall MP and delete everything but these folders inside the 2 seperate mediaportal folders.

Program Files\mediaportal, keep, Database, Skin, Weather, WEBEPG these are all folders.

Program Data\mediaportal, keep Database, Inputdevicemappings, Thumbs and xmltv folders.

    Delete all other files.

then install RC3 and reconfigure in setup.

Hopefully everything should still be there after you start MP.

Did as you proposed (although some of the directories you mentioned were already deleted by the uninstaller).

Unfortunately, I still get that old SVN showing up in the splash screen..

I finally found what the problem was. The problem was that I was having UAC enabled. If I turn it off, it works as it should. The only other alternative seems to be to manually clear the VirtualStore every time one upgrades MP (including SVNs). The post from floepie (other thread) got me thinking in that direction.

    :D
