I am having problems playing back ts / hdtv files on Media portal which runs fine on Windows Media Player 10 with video mixing rendering turn off.

I believe this is caused by VMR9. Can anyone tell me how to turn off VMR9 in MP?

Thanks. I using pure video codec for video and audio.

You cannot turn off VMR9 in Mediaportal. Your video card probably isn't beefy enough to handle HDTV in VMR9, which is why you get smooth palyback without VMR9 (i.e. using VMR7) in WMP10.

 in that case my htpc plan is going down the drain....

have to spend much $$$$$ to upgrade the graphic card....

currently i am running on AMD2600 with a 256MB Nvidia 6600 AGP card.

with VMR9 (Directx 9) some hdtv files cant run....I only can run it if I disable VMR9 and revert to VMR7 (Dx 7).....

I'd be looking at a fault in Dx9 or something along those lines.
Whatever the case, downgrading applications is not a long term solution.

as a long shot, try start/run/dxdiag and see what it tells you?

Also, try reinstalling WMP, but I'm not even sure that's possibl.

    Hi,

do you know which codec is used by your provider for HDTV (H.264 or MPEG)? Afaik only the latest Cyberlink does support H.264 properly.

I have the same problem! :-( ts files are playing well in MCE2005 and WMP10 but not within MP! I have a Geforce6200 and a AMD 3200+, so i don't think this should be a problem, shouldn't it?
