    I am using a new Microsoft XBox360 Universal Media Remote via an eHome USB Receiver that came with a Toshiba Laptop (VID_0609&PID_031D). I enabled the "MCE Remote" in Media Portal's settings. I'm not using HIP or IR Server or Girder.

    Most of the buttons work (vol, mute, numbers, arrows, rec, ff, rwd, guide, info, dvdmenu, on/off, start, back, and others), but the Channel UP and Channel DOWN buttons don't do anything. :confused:
    If I press the Numeric Buttons, they change channels according to my custom Channels Group

    Do I need to set up the Channels so each channel is in its own group or something? (but F7 and F8 work fine)
    Or is MediaPortal simply not detecting the Remote Buttons?

    Funny thing is, the IR codes for the Channel Buttons are 29xx, all other buttons are 30xx
    I used HIP to grab the codes coming from the eHome receiver and saved it to an hkm file, here are the codes:

    MCE=HINTERFACE
    Remote=HREMOTE
    3043=#
    3071=#0
    3070=#1
    3069=#2
    3068=#3
    3067=#4
    3066=#5
    3065=#6
    3064=#7
    3063=#8
    3062=#9
    3042=*
    3036=BACK
    2963=CH+
    2962=CH-
    3061=CLEAR
    3040=DOWN
    3035=DVD Menu
    3060=Enter
    3051=FF
    3033=GUIDE
    3039=LEFT
    3034=Live TV
    3057=MUTE
    3037=OK
    3047=PAUSE
    3049=PLAY
    3048=RECORD
    3050=REW
    3038=RIGHT
    3045=SKIP
    3058=START
    3046=STOP
    3041=UP
    3055=VOL+
    3054=VOL-

    Re: XBox360 MCE Remote - Channel Up/Down buttons don't work

    [Solved]

    The problem is that the Channel Buttons on the XBox360 Remote are designed to control a TV, or to control Windows Media Center via the XBox360 console.

    So I tried programming the remote (entering various TV Manufacturer codes found here) but nothing worked. In fact it just got worse, the volume buttons and Mute suddenly failed to work in MediaPortal.

    When I changed the TV Code in the remote, HIP detected different codes. Instead of the default "2963", it gave "12xxx". But the problem is, you need to press the "TV" button to get the channel buttons working, then press the TV button again to go back to XBox360 mode so you can use the other buttons on the remote.

    So I pulled the batteries out of the Remote to reset it, the channel button was again giving a "2963" code.
    Then I realized that I dont need to reprogram/map every single button in HIP. Almost all the buttons already work in MediaPortal, except for the channel buttons.

    So I created a new configuration in HIP and only scanned in the Channel Buttons, and mapped the Channel Buttons to standard keypresses sent to Media Portal. F7 for Previous Channel, F8 for Next Channel.

    Below is a screenshot of the HIP configuration (with a few more buttons added).

    The left dialog is where you read IR Codes from the Remote, and assign the code to a "Key name". For example, I assigned code 2963 to the key name "CH+".

    The right dialog is the main HIP Window where you specify applications that will receive keyhits/messages etc.. Program 1 is set to the MediaPortal executable.

    The command box at the bottom lets you map the IR Codes to commands sent to the application. As you can see, CH+ is assigned to "F8"

    Now I just need to decide what the big green XBOX button will do :p
