This is a problem I have since RC1. Last SVN before RC1 did not have this problem. It seems the problem can be reproduced only on 1080p resolution.

Symptom: after abound 20/25 minutes of xvid/avi playing, it begins to stutter heavily. I have to stop video and play again to solve the problem for other 20/25 minutes.
How to reproduce it: simply start an xvid video and wait until it begins to stutter (can also happen before 20 minutes but also after 30/35 minutes). You have to have 1080p resolution, 50hz refresh rate. It also seems to happen with EVR only (Windows 7, probably Vista too)
Other: if I press shift+1 I can see no frames are dropped but the red line jumps up and down (frames are not in sync, I think). The white bars also stutter heavily.

    What have I tried:
    - Downgrade drivers to 9.12, same problem
    - Disable all third party plugins, same problem
    - Change codecs (I normally use ffdshow, tried microsoft and xvid), same problem
    - Change splitter. Using Gabest no effect, same problem.
    - Using dshowhelper.dll from SVN 24975. THIS FIXES THE PROBLEM.

    Other:

    - please notice I've tried with a 25fps media played at 50hz, so no problem with no matching refreshrate-fps.
    - the problem has been confirmed by at least other three users on htpcitalia.it
    - the problem is only with xvid files, .mkv files play without problems
    - SD and HDTV play without problems
    - I use haali media splitter for playing avi's so I can switch between audio tracks

I also post logs (the last couple of minutes are with stuttering).

I hope someone can reproduce and solve this problem.

There is a workaround for this problem: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...ut-20-25-minutes-79686/index7.html#post607130

    Roby

If you convert the faulty avi to mkv, does the problem go away, if so then the chances are it is codec related problem, sadly have no issues myself so cannot confirm, just trying to eliminate possible causes.

Also take it you are using the core.dll from this thread https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...playing-problems-rc1-tv-radio-avi-dxva-78501/

I have the same problem too... Every some minutes ( for me 3 - 10) of xvid/avi playing, it begins stutter (red line jumps up and down without frames drops) but after some seconds ( 5-10 seconds) it become normal. I'm playing avi/ xvid with ffdshow or microsoft as a codec.

It happen with 25 fps media at 50hz, I tried at 25hz and seems that all be ok.

I tried with rc1 core.dll and this https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...playing-problems-rc1-tv-radio-avi-dxva-78501/. I tried to change the directshowhelper from https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...mproving-evr-renderer-playback-quality-77563/ as well (the 3th one is better but the problem appear always), without success.

I attached my log maybe it can help you.

    Thanks.

Re: XVID AVI Stuttering after about 20/25 minutes

It seems the problem is there only with 1080p resolution. Another PC with non 1080p resolution works fine here and also other users on htpcitalia have the problem on 1080p resolution. Other PC's with non 1080p resolution works fine. Will add this information to the first thread.

Re: XVID AVI Stuttering after about 20/25 minutes

I can confirm that I am seeing this problem with certain AVIs running at 50Hz using RC1. Heavy micro stuttering seems to occur.

I will try the alternative core.dll and see if it makes any difference.

If using FFDShow, what happens if forcing another output, think the default tends to be YUV12, does that make a difference.

I've tried to force RGB output with high quality conversion but the problem is still there. Also tried SVN 25314 and still the same problem.

Re: XVID AVI Stuttering after about 20/25 minutes

I'm still experimenting, but if you are using FFDShow, open the Video settings and uncheck resize and see if this helps?

I think this might have been adding to the problem in my case but need a bit more time to confirm.

Although it is nice to get FFDShow to resize intelligently and automatically, this is done in software and not by the GPU and I think might be responsible for some slow motion stuttering in some cases , though I am not absolutely sure why it only happens for some files!

Re: XVID AVI Stuttering after about 20/25 minutes

I thought the codec settings had something to do with it because my problem avis when booting up Mediaportal the next day seemed to be Ok.

But as the thread suggests, this is a very bizarre problem. Everything looks OK and then after about 20-25 mins of playing AVIs the y start experiencing heavy judder or a micro stutter that makes them look like they are rendering in slight slow motion??

When the problem started again for me, I switched from FFDShow for xvid to the microsoft codec - same problem!!!
