The sound doesn't work when playing xvid inside MediaPortal. It does work when playing the same file in Windows Media Player or MPC. The sound also works on all mkv-files using MP.

GraphEdit:
When playing xvid in MP, sound not working

When playing xvid in MPC, sound working

When playing mkv in MP, sound working

I've tried all the sound codec options in MP without success aswell as some other things. Now I'm lost. Any ideas on how to fix it?

The xvid file has MP3 Stereo Sound audio? Does music work?
Could you check the xvid file specs with mediainfo and post it here?
Also check ffdshow audio decoder Codecs settings.

Music (MP3) does not work either, so perhaps you are onto something (I never listen to music in MP). It does however play outside MP.

I have tried changing all the possible alternatives in ffdshow audio decoder on MP3 (libavcodec, libmad, disabled) without noticing any difference.

I heard about this kind of problems somewhere. Maybe you can search through the forum, MP3 not working.
Furthermore you can test what happens if you choose another Audio Renderer. (atm you are using Default DirectSound Device?!)

I have tried the other audio renderers without success.

You have some weird graphs going on when playing video anyway, I suggest first you try running filmerit (link in my signature) and see if it finds any errors with your filters.

Did you install AC3 filter after ffdshow, this also may have disabled some of ffdshow functions, if you did then uninstall both, reboot, run filmerit, use padlock to unlock and fix any errors found, then install AC3 and ffdshow afterwards.

If you just run the file in graphedit does it have sound? If yes, check what codecs are used and try to set them in MediaPortal.

    Yes.

    Same file played in GraphEdit

The difference as I see it is that it does not reach AC3 Filter after ffdshow when playing in MP.

I reinstalled ffdshow and AC3 Filter as per your instructions. Now all the video files again play correctly with sound in all program EXCEPT MediaPortal. A note, after the reinstall I had to disable AC3 decode in ffdshow audio settings for those movies to work in MP.

I also have sound when playing TV. Here's the graph for when playing recorded tv in MP:

I don't have any menu sounds in MP either which I just noticed, but this may have died the same time as my xvid sound did (or rather MP3 sound).
