How sort the same Movie in different versions

Discussion in 'Moving Pictures' started by heiserfeger77, January 11, 2012.

  1. Hello people,

i want to know, how you sort your movies by more than one version.

    for example:

    I have:

    Avatar (Kino Version)
    Avatar 3D
    Avatar Extended Version

i want that the kino and extended version play with internal mpplayer
and the 3D version over the BluRay-Player-Plugin with arcsoft Player

One way is the seperat entry in the homebasic of streamedmp for 3D-Movies or one entry with specific playerconfiguration.

    How i can headle this.

I'm also interested in a solution for this! an entry for 3D Movies in homebasic would be awesome!

anyone an idea? Who you manage your different content from the same movie. Look all over an external Player? Or is there a solution, where i can have different configurations for the players.

I need to get an answer because I don't want to yet destroy my SD versions. The HD 3D and Bluray versions are too big to keep in the same databases. I thought of using My Films for the Bluray and MovingPictures using PotPlayer for SD movies, but that seems imperfect. I already use MP-TVSeries so managing across menus shouldn't be a problem. How can we assign a different player for each type?

for my config at the moment:
I use streamedmp with mptvseries and movingpictures.

    my sd content using .avi
my special or hd version .avi or .mkv
my 3D content is using iso-images BluRay 3D

sd and hd using internal mpplayer
images playing all over daemon tools with arcsoft
there is no problem at dvd
there is nearly no problem at bluray
there is nearly no problem at bluray3D

but when i look in my list at mpmovies i can't see the different between the versions

for example my 3 Versions of Avatar is in the following sort and naming for directory and filename

    Avatar - Aufbruch nach Pandora (2008) (tt0499549)
Avatar - Aufbruch nach Pandora (Extended Edition) (2009) (tt0499549)
    Avatar - Aufbruch nach Pandora (3D) (2008) (tt0499549)

in mpmovies i see three times Avatar with an short an longer and no time. I see no way what version it is. And i don't want change the database manually.

i often have BluRay Bundles with two version (Kampf der Titanen (eng. Clash of the titans) with normal BluRay and BluRay3D.

There is a plan for nativ BluRay support with mp 1.3.0.

But no way, where i can look in the list, between different versions

    How you are manage this?

I have yet to make a start to integrate 6TB of HD files, and without a MP solution for managing and searching for different film versions, would it make sense to keep them separate and build them into an XBMC solution using arcsoft as the external player?

I have a similar problem with some animated movies I have with both original English language and dubbed Swedish for my kids. I keep them separated in different folders and use a category filter where fullpath contains "\children path\" and fullpath contains "\foreign\" etc.

    Hi.
I'm separating my 3D and 2D movies in extra directories. This way I simply can make different categories for both...
So I have Avatar and Avatar 3D in Database and know exact which one I choose...

If you want 3 separate versions displayed, then you probably wanna use the IMDb+ scraper, since it has 'Special Edition tagging' support.
The tagging is still fixed for a couple of things at the moment, but '3D' and 'Extended' are already supported (and will then be added to the tag).
