MP running extremely slow (1 Viewer)

Hi there, I'm new to this all, MP alltogether and the forum,
so there are some things I need to know.

I experienced the following directly after installing MP. I'm
running MP on XPSP2, DotNet2, automatical Updates enabled,
all my drivers are WHQL and up do date.

When I start to view a movie, the screen turns fullscreen, then
immediatelly turns darker when I move the mouse and back to
bright again if I do nothing at all. When I now click or press any
button on my keyboard, it takes about 10-15 seconds until some
thing happens. The mouse moves slowly, and for a while, there
is no possibillity of returning to main menu or WindowsDesktop,
only thing I can do is Ctrl+Alt+Del and shut the thing down.
Images work fine, but Mp3 can't return from fullscreen either.
I left the configuration for the most parts at default values
to make sure i don't set up anything wrong.

Another thing: At first, within the music tab, it showed the names
of the titles or artist, now it doesn't do this anymore, no matter
how often and in which way I change the settings. What happens?

I have nothing running besides MP in the background, my rig
contains a A64 3000+, 512 MB RAM, GeForce 6800 GT on a RAID-0
system. Is there anything that can be done to impove speed
and stability? Is there a guide somewhere?
I really like that program, but I wonder why it's so slow.
I have a similar programm from the Ahead Nero 7 Premium
Package which runs just fine and superfast, so I don't consider
these "lags" an hardware or driver error.
Can someone give a guy a hint?

I'm new to this all, MP alltogether and the forum,
so i don't know exactly what you are talking about.

I just wanted to know if there is generally an option to improve
speed and stability in the software itself. No offense, pal! :D

Your experince is unusual - MP runs fine normally.

So there must be something wrong with your setup - hence the request for you to use the Support Template so we can figure out what is wrong. Also, please post your MediaPortal.log file as in the instructions.

I also have the going brighter and dimmer problem, and everything is very laggy when in fullscreen tv.
    I have:
    AMD Athlon 64-bit 3200+ - 512MB DDR RAM - 2x 200GB SATA (RAID 0) - ATI Radeon 9600XT

Have you made these changes that I suggested in your other thread?

"Run MP Configuration and make sure that you have "Enable Exclusive DirectX" selected in Home and that "Grab EPG...." in Television / Program Guide is de-selected."

Make sure that you have VMR9 Renderless selected as your video renderer and that you have the latest video drivers installed for your video card.

Also, verify the latency setting of your video card and apply these Windows patches.

Yeah, and thats why you have this forum?
Just because everythings fine usually? 8)
The other guy has problems as well, so there must be something
wrong with the setup I guess.
Like I stated above, I have all Windows patches applied, and
every other app and game runs just fine.
But maybe I'll try that template and the thing with that logfile
when I have the time and don't feel the need just to use another
program that runs fine on my machine without too much of my
    doing. :)
Just that you don't get me wrong, I like that prog, it seems fine
to me, just damn slow and a little buggy. There's nothing wrong
with that, I just want a hint to improve speed generally, not some
Your experince is unusual - MP runs fine normally.
Cause maybe on your machine, it does. But not on mine. Later!

EDIT: Hm... I got it to work. There was no Renderer selected at
all. Great, I thought the prog could at least do this on its own.
Oh well, it works fine now, and thats all i wantetd. Thanks anyway!

    Hi borizb,

I think you misunderstood the meaning of my comment "Your experince is unusual - MP runs fine normally".

I made this comment in order to point out to you that since there are no hidden tweaks in MediaPortal that could affect performance, we really needed you to post your support template so we could make some suggestions that you could try. Without knowing the details of your setup, we would just be making wild guesses..... :?

The information you posted didn't even reveal which version of MediaPortal you are using!

I am very disappointed in the tone of your posting, and now I can see why we have lost dedicated MP contributors like Smirnuff, when we get arrogant replies like yours when we are just trying to help........
