Yes, if monogram version being used is not able to cope with explicit sbr signaling, it will play just a split-second of audio and then cease working. Sometime ago, RedeTV! was not using explicit sbr signaling and then it was possible to hear RedeTV audio using original Monogram.
First of all, I would check if there are other copies of monogram across your drive, perhaps some codec pack installed other copy in some other place and what is registered to be used is not the one in MediaPortal folder but one in other folder... So, updating monogram in mediaportal folder is not updating monogram for your system. It seems the most likely reason that you can't get it working right now...
