I think that problem with BasicHome only relates to Horizontal Menu (Vertical Menu should be Okay). I personally dont maintain the Horizontal menu, however Trevor does and I believe he is aware of that issue. I think it happens with other odd scenarios as well iirc.

This issue exists since at least October 2011. Maybe you can give Trevor a note about it. Looks like it has been gone under in the long list of reported issues.
