I also looked at my list of recorded TV shows as big icons (usually list) Out of 17 single (not series) shows, 2 had actual pictures - the others just pics of film.
somehow those log still don't contain any reference to VideoThumbCreator
So unfortunately I can't see what had happened there
Just checked and VideoThumbCreator logging was added (MP1-4090 : Rework Thumbnail Generation for Video and Picture (Update/… · MediaPortal/MediaPortal-1@2880a6d) just a couple of months after release of Mediaportal 1.3, so there isn't much I can see in the logs after all..
I guess you have strong reasons for not upgrading?
Sure would like to know why the icons worked for years, then suddenly stopped for new entries, and now doesn't work at all.
Any guess as to something I inadvertently did to cause this?
Thanks for looking.
No strong reason for not upgrading. Just inertia and reluctance to change something that's working (other than this). Plus have to find the right version of Backup/SaveSettings that works with current and new MP versions.
I noticed something that I probably should have seen before. From Videos > Menu > Video Settings > Folders, at the right side is a statement: video icons are disabled globally. No apparent way to change it.
How did that happen? And how can it be changed?
Do you have a screenshot? Tried to find related texts in the sourcecode but nothing really stood out.
I did find an option in the configuration where you can disable thumb-creation on a per-folder basis:
I'm embarrassed again for missing something simple. Under GUI >Thumbnails I didn't have Video Thumbs Autocreate set.
I don't remember even looking at that page after initial install, and I'm positive I didn't intentionally turn off autocreate -- but obviously, I did. Looked at every thing in Videos - but not GUI.
Thanks very much for finding my problem, and sorry to waste your time.
