apologies if this is in the wrong place.
last few (final 3) episodes of walking dead (series2) cause MP to hang for me. I also can't open them in media player classic, but VNC has no problems.
my suspicion is it's codec based, but not sure how to further troubleshoot to be honest.

    logs are attached.

windows 7 home premium (32bit), amd dual core. ATI video card.. handles pretty much everything else I try, but can elaborate on the kit if anyone thinks it'll really help.

What source did you get them from, suspect a bad rip, logs only show ffdshow for video and M$ codec for audio (you might want to change that).

File might also not be complete, especially if vlc can play it, is this the "IMMERSE" release

it's the (HDTV-x264-ASAP) [VTV] release...the torrent said it was complete,. not sure how to further check it?
can you recommend what I should change the codec to (and are you suggesting the video or audio codec I should change, or both?)
    thanks

Well its trying to use the M$ codec for audio, would suggest trying ffdshow and see if any different.

Downloading E13 now to test, but will be using the LAV filters on my system.

Can you play it with other mediaplayers (e.g. windows media player)? VLC is really good in playing damaged files...

If it is damaged., the easiest way I know of checking it is to run it through mkvmerge, if it throws out a error then there is a problem with the file, Handbrake or Freemakes video convertor may be able to fix it for you, if no error then try playing the mkv file in MP.

Btw MediaPortal still shouldn't crash because of this... ;)

yep okay.. 'crash' is the wrong word.. it hangs and becomes completely unresponsive. [alt]+[f4] to kill the app (so windows is still responsive at least), but it doesn't crash out as such.
late as here tonight so not in a position to try the suggestions, but I do appreciate them.. will check it tomorrow evening. thanks heaps :)

Chances are its the filters crashing that's what caused MP to freeze up, tourette's has stated this many a time, also worst case scenario, can BSOD if using dxva, but that does now seem to be very rare in Windows 7, not seen a report here, but there are some over at the Nvidia forums relating to Flash and newer drivers :(

thread closed for obvious reasons. Please move to private conversation.

And while where at it: a warning for .de-users not to download that stuff for testing. That TWD-crap is heavily logged.
