I changed my hosts file yesterday evening, resulting in a full EPG download overnight, and everything appears to have gone smoothly. The EPG seems to have all my channels, and there do not appear to be any gaps around midnight on November 1. I am in the Central Time zone.
Also, it is possible...
I believe a bad connection on the coax side has a similar effect, but I don't remember any more for sure. Ever since I got it all working and stuffed into the cabinet a couple years ago I've been scared to touch it. :)

I think that's a pretty accurate summary of the status quo.
It's not clear right now if there will be a new build official of the existing SD plugin available before November 1 with the new SD-DD hostname baked in (or a configurable hostname for that matter), but if not, you should be able to...
This is what I used:
Coaxial (RCA) to Optical Toslink Digital Audio Converter
1.5ft Premium Optical Toslink Cable w/ Metal Fancy Connector
Nothing fancy by any means. One simple problem I run into is that the TOSlink connectors are easily dislodged when sliding my TV-Server machine in to or...
I have seen this exact behavior when attempting to use the optical input of the Colossus but for some reason the audio connection is bad. Do you have another device with an optical audio input that you can use to test the combination of your receiver, cables, and coax to optical converter? For...
Scott,
Great job finding that--and don't give me too much credit because I only found mention of it, not the actual article describing it. :)
I will test as soon as I can and let you know about my results.

Yes, there is some complexity in there, but that is a consequence of the questions being asked. It just so happens that the example query I presented in that message is the *exact* one you need: configuring your channels for component video and TOSlink audio. I even went as far as giving the...
I never found anything more than tiny thumbnails on DirecTV's web site, so I got all my logos from Lyngsat, which is painful in its own right. I seem to remember writing a script to grab a lot of those for me to save on clicking, but that still didn't help with the renaming.
Take a look at...
I have never had any odd issues with my S/PDIF to optical audio converters. All I had to do was a simple query to change the audio source for all my channels and I was immediately in business. HDMI was a different story, and I'm still looking forward to your report on this.
I haven't tried...
Are you using the same audio and video connections on both cards? If so, there should be no need to have separate sets of channels. BTW are you using HDMI? And are you doing so with or without those "splitters"?
Is the problem associated with a particular receiver/card combination? Or is it...
The problem surfaced whenever the Colossus saw a resolution change on the HDMI input, regardless of whether this occurred as a consequence of a tuning change from the recording scheduler or the user interface (i.e., as a consequence of channel surfing). I don't remember a lot about the issue as...
Well, that's interesting regarding those, umm, "splitters". :) Please report back on your findings. BTW, I used inexpensive S/PDIF to optical converters from Monoprice, and they have been working without issue. I would be thrilled to get rid of all that if someone finds a simple HDMI-based...
I have three H24 receivers connected via component video and digital audio (using an external S/PDIF to optical converter) to three Colossus cards. I use SchedulesDirect for EPG, and the SHEF IP plugin to control the receivers over Ethernet. I had some issues in the early days as a consequence...
That's great news! I haven't taken the plunge into MP2 yet as I am waiting for all the little odds and ends like this that make everything work together.
Sasha
I can confirm that the "power receivers on and off as required" feature in the DirecTV SHEF plugin doesn't work as intended. Notably, when a user of a stream goes away (e.g., a recording ends, user tunes away from channel in live TV, etc.), the plugin will power off the receiver that was...
