In your skins directory check that all the packagedgfx**.png have been removed as well as packedgfx2.bxml (if that file remains and the others dont, it will do exactly what your looking at)

    mmh.. try this:

    go to ...Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Skin\BlueTwo\

and delete the packedgfx2.bxml as well as the packedgfx20.png and packedgfx21.png

    and try it again.

if there is more, just delete eveything called pakedgfx.....

Cant say that error rings a bell, dont think Ive seen that one before. Since its to do with DirectX, perhaps a reinstall of graphics drivers and DX9?

Rember that this only appeared after applying Updater for MediaPortal 0.2.0.2, will try this as last thing before reverting to clean install of both win xp and mp..

    regards..
