Hi, I have installed the newest stable release following the instructions and unlike with the previous versions, my system is having lockups and other strange behavior.
The first time I start MP, everything seems to go right - except for not yet being able to get any movie content (dvd & recorded stuff) getting displayed to the full screen size of the tv. When I shutting down MP to start the configuration and starting MP again, it hangs with the MP splash screen at 'Initializing DirectX'. Even pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL repeatedly does not bring any solution most of the times - sometimes MP continues after a few times pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL.
In the directx control panel, everything seems to be fine so I don't know what is wrong here.
I will go back to the 0.2.1.0 version for now.
Thanks a lot and you MP guys: keep up the good work and happy hollidays!
    P.

Hi tiwang, thanks a lot of replying to my issue but unfortunately it didn't get solved.
I downloaded directx 9c - the December version - but no changes.
The video driver was already the last version available so nothing to do there either.

I had already searched for a way to uninstall the directx version that was on my pc but apparently the tool that I found didn't work so I just installed the same version over the existing one - which was already 9.0c

The only thing that has been changed is during the previous version of MP that I was using v0.2.1.0 is the upgrade of the video driver which didn't given me any problems at all.
After upgrading MP to v0.2.2.0 these problems kicked in and even going back to the backed up version gives me the same issues. :(

    Any help is VERY welcome!

I had other problems and it was because of the onboard video 6150.
In the forums for MSI (my board) they mention to use v82.05 that came with my MB as any newer drivers are causing some problems.
I Reinstalled 82.05 and all is well.
Something about the latest Nvidia drivers not playing well with onboard 6150 Video. (This seems to be common problem from all manufacturers)

I also had to add a fan to the North bridge Chip as it gets way too hot. (Can not hold my finger on it)

I'm having the exact some problem as the original poster.

I'm running MP on a MacMini with Bootcamp and everything was fine until I installed 0.2.2.0. I'm running the lastest DirectX and all required updates are installed. Even when I run the Config app I get a ...'encountered a problem and needs to close...' error report. Which never happen in previous versions.

After browsing over the forum a little, it look likes a few people have the same problem.

If anyone has any idea's, that would be great.

    Hi,

This was a problem for me along with getting the "outdated skin" warning at startup, even when using Blue Two 2.2.0. A complete uninstall including deleting the leftover MP files, a fresh reboot, and a fresh install of 0.2.2 seems to have solved both hangs.

OP: Have you tried starting from scratch?

I finally reinstalled XP since I couldn't find any solution to this directx issue.
Even though reinstalling didn't take me that long, I would have preferred for a real solution then approaching it this way:(

Yes dcwp, even removing MP, drivers/software that might influence and reinstalling it all, didn't bring any solution.
It seems that directx problems are not that easy to solve.

    Thanks for your suggestions anyway!
