MrHipp has posted a fixed version that does. I have verified that there are no side-effects, but don't have any videos with unicode filenames. Just waiting for someone to confirm that it works fine before committing.

i have a lot of recordings with unicode in names. But i still use 1.0.2. SO if this plugin is compatible with 1.0.2 then please can anyone compile new mtn for me to test?
