Last night I was unable to complete the installation process.

I kept getting this dialog:
Unable to download settings file. [Check IE settings]. A corrupt config file will be deleted, if found...
All internet connectivity checked out fine, so here I am reporting a fault.
Only that I've just tried again this morning and it's working now.
So it appears it was a temporary unavailability of the MP server.

So my suggestion is that the installer needs a better test and report to the user if the download server is not available. Something like:

It appears that your internet connection is fine, but the MP download server appears to be temporarily unavailable. Please try installing again at a later time.

That would have saved me a bunch of time and frustration. Hopefully something more helpful like this could be added to the installer?

Thanks,
Pete :)

How do you suggest we do that? Should we make it download a file from another site as a test? What if that site is not available?

It told you that it was unable to download a file it needed.

What sort of install did you do? Most of the time it doesn't need to download anything, so perhaps you could tell us what it was trying to download. Maybe it was not even downloading from the MediaPortal servers (directx from microsoft?).

Honestly, there are a lot of factors outside of our direct control.

I set this to "no bug", since I don't believe we should make code changes here. Thanks for reporting though.
