Some further points that I should have mentioned earlier: (1) I always install using Run as Administrator. I usually open an Administrator command window and invoke the MP installer from the command line, but you could instead use Windows Explorer and right-click the MP installer and then select "Run as Administrator". Does running as administrator make a difference? I don't know, but it won't do any harm and it might do some good. (2) As I installed into an empty Windows 10 partition, there were no additional firewalls, anti-virus, or anti-malware programs installed; I use only the default programs included in Windows 10. The MP installer changes the firewall settings to allow communication between the MP client and TV Server. This works for the Windows firewall, but perhaps there are some third-party firewall/anti-malware products that don't accept these changes from the MP installer. If you have any of these third-party products, disable them completely before running the MP installer (but remember that you still need to have the internet accessed whilst running the installer  ; installing without the internet does not work). (3) During the install and on the first start of "TV Server Config" and/or "MP Config", a firewall panel appears asking if you want to allow access. Look carefully at this, and make sure that "Allow access to public networks" is deselected; Windows pre-selects this by default, but this is likely to impose more-restrictive firewall rules that may prevent the MP client being able to communicate with TV Server. (4) My test install was for the MP client and TV Server on the same system. I have not used a setup where the MP client and TV Server are on a different systems, so I don't know whether problems exist with that arrangement. :( -- from CyberSimian in the UK
