CPU - AMD 64 1.8ghz / 1.5gb ram / XP Pro SP3 / Mediaportal 1 rc2 / ATI Radeon 3450 - 512mb / h.264 codec is coreavc Not sure where to put this but here goes.. media portal chokes on mkv container files with 1080p content, very choppy frame rate at 23.5 and jitter around 19, with cpu at 99% - but windows media player plays it fine - in fact, cpu usage is around 20% - which tells me that it is being acceleratred by the video card - ATI 3450. 720p is similar, but works ok in media portal - cpu usage is around 70% but the frame rate is at 23.9 and jitter is only 1 or 2 - through media player, cpu usage is around 10-15%. Why is media player so smooth and mediaportal so choppy? Of course I say all of this and the recent bourne identity backup that I am playing craps out all together - so my guess is there is a problem with its encoding.. Any thoughts would be appreciated! thanks jim
