1080p content not running smooth, no HW acceleration? (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I've been playing around with MP a bit trying to see if I can get it to run 1080p content smooth. I'm using planet earth (x264) as a benchmark. Untill now I've got little luck getting things to run smooth. I use the SAF codec pack as manually trying to use the MPC HC codec didnt work for some reason. Now SAF broke audio playback in the stand alone MPC player and made it display artifacts but when I play with MPC the scenes that do no run good in MP at all do run good in MPC. To me it looks like MP isnt using all of my hardware. It seems to be using no gpu acceleration at all but also not all of my cpu. In the scenes that do not run good cpu load never goes above 65%.

Does anybody knows how I could fix this?

Specs:
MP 1.1 rc2
streamedMP
amd 4450e (2.3ghz dualcore)
2gb ram
Radeon 3450 (supports hardware acceleration according to SAF)
windows 7 64bit
SAF codec pack

If CPU is 65% then you're going with no DXVA, which is bad and probably cause your stutters.

Which version of SAF do you use and which codec?

With windows I can also suggest you win7codec pack by shark007, it actually works better for me then SAF.

I tried both v4 and v5 experimental (so mpc codec for 4, ffdshow for xdva for 5). v5 seems to work a lot better but still not perfect. I think I am getting HW acceleration because if I open Cat CCC I can see the gpu meter go move up to 50%. SO its a bit weird. Both the cpu and gpu never get stressed to the max but still its not playing smooth.

Tried the win7codec pack because saf also seemed to give me subtitle problems and you are right that this works a lot better. It seems that the peformance issues I had are now mostly gone. I'll check it again tomorrow but a quick check on some scenes that didnt run well at all now seem to run good. Still a 65% cpu load and only 15 to 50% on the gpu so that is still a bit weird but atleast things seem to run better now.
