On the Hauppauge, you can implement different levels for the remote (explain in a topic somewhere)
It was working fine for me
(now I use a different remote based connected on the serial port)

Another fan for idea 1. When I check my zap habit I notice that I do the same thing. Also the idea for zapping between 4 channels with the 4 remote color buttons (red blue green yellow) is interesting and even better.

Perhaps you should start a poll for these ideas.

If you want to use it that way, with Girder or the Hauppauge app, you're right... But that really sucks, there's a better solution. :wink:
