[ATI] 23.976 or 24 Hz (2 Viewers)

Can someone confirm if the 24Hz mode in ATI catalyst 11.4 is actually 23.976?

I have read lots of posts about version 9.x of catalyst having 24Hz and 23Hz modes but I have not been able to find 23Hz in 11.4.

However, if I run MediaPortal in 24Hz and press shift+1 to see the statistics the FPS setting starts to converge on 23.97 - although it never settles down to an exact figure.

So does this mean 24Hz mode = 23.976 and there isn't a true 24Hz mode?

Do you have GPU Scaling enabled? I guess 23Hz is only available if GPU Scaling is disabled.

You are correct. Once GPU scaling is disabled 23Hz is available.

After setting to 23 Hz CCC still reports 24 Hz but I believe this is a bug dating back to the 9.x drivers that still hasn't been fixed

Well, if I had GPU scaling enabled and tried to play a movie that got 23,976 fps I noticed framedrops in regular timesteps because GPU refreshrate was 24hz. Then I disabled GPU scaling and set 23Hz -> No more regular framedrops with movies that have 23,976fps. You can also set that in Automatic RefreshRate Changer in MediaPortal config.

I've been meaning to check Automatic RefreshRate Changer. At the moment both 24 and 23.976 sources are set to select 24Hz.. Should I make 23.976 sources select 23Hz?
