4therecord install issue (1 Viewer)

Hi

when installing 4therecord i get as far as test the connection. When i click test it fails.does it continue to install after a positive test or is it continuing in the back ground? Its hard to follow the setup guide as the explnations are tricky to follow.

Any advice is much appreciated! My missus is going to kill me if i hog the tv any longer!

Have you selected the right SQL connection, by default it is MYSQL with root as user and MediaPortal (case sensitive) as password.

MSSQL is sa and the same password.

I left it on default settings. the user name and password are greyed out. Cant type anything in.

Thats why i was unsure about the intstall happening in the background and when it completes then it will let me type a user name.

What do you think?

I am assuming this is the best plugin to use in the UK for upto date freesat info. Maybe should have mentioned this!!

I want to use this to have upto date sEPG but also schedule the recordings. It seems a popular choice.

Is this the best one to use or should i use another?

Everyones help is appreciated. I'm new to this, not a computer newbie, but necer touched this side of PCs before. All very interesting.

You have got a SQL database installed and running, TVServer does this on its first install.

ForTheRecord is just a very advanced TV\Radio scheduler, it has nothing to do with grabbing epg, either tvserver grabs that from the program stream, or you use WebEPG or xmltvGUI to download guide from the internet.

I would get everything working with just MP first, later you can add TVWishlist plugin, which is a more improved scheduler than MP's

I would get your epg sorted before thinking about anything else.

Thats exactly what i want to do. Ive misunderstood whats going on.
So why is my epg almost empty. Ihave the xml tv plugin twitched on so how do i get this working correctly.
