Where on earth have you got that MCE 2005 is stable and reliable?? There is numerous posts on the net where people have major problems with their MCE installation, even when they have verified hardware.

A swedish PC mah recently tested several Media solutions and MP was the one that got recommended even though the MCE 2005 was in the test as well.

I realize that formating your PC can feel as a sh**ty soultion but since so many users of MP have the same (or similar) system as you there is a good chance that the problem is on your end. Trying to figure out what program, driver, codec etc it is is hard. It's hard enough if you sit at the PC physically but near impossible to solve through a forum.

If you really come to the conclusion that MP isn't what you are looking for it's a shame. MP is without comparison the best system for your HTPC.
