I moved my Media Portal PC into the living room last night. The case is a little deeper than I thought so I'm going to move it behind the entertainment center. Other than that, I only have a couple of issues and the system should be ready to go. The first one is that when playing back movies, I get a line across the screen about a third of the way down. It comes and goes, usually when there is more motion on screen. I'm using Hoborg's stand alone filters, that codec is the only one I can find that DVD playback doesn't give me a black screen on some movies and that the DVD navigation works correctly.

I'm also having trouble with audio. I have an SPDIF out, but my receiver is only decoding Dolby Prologic. Some of my DVDs are DTS, and I would really like to be able to output Dolby Digital or DTS.

Last but not least, I programed my Harmony remote to be a Microsoft Media Center remote. But it doesn't seem to recognize it at all. I probably just need to fiddle with some of the settings or maybe install Microsoft's drivers or something.

About the "line". Most likely you are experiencing tearing, please turn on the DirectX exclusive mode under directshow filter configuration.

For the remote make sure the proper remote is selected in config

Ok, I fixed the tearing issue by upgrading to SAF 2.5 and switching to VMR9. I fixed the audio problems by uninstalling the manufacturers driver and grabbing a copy of Via's Envy 24 driver. That driver had more options for using the SPDIF out.

I still can't get the system to recognize the remote. The IR port isn't showing up in device manager for some reason (or not as the device type I'm expecting). That's strange because the cheap remote that came with it does let me use some buttons. I set my Harmony 659 to be a Microsoft media center remote, and none of the buttons work at all.
