The idea behind English based IMDb scraper is to end up with English titles on foreign movies. So eventhough it's the informal and/or direct translation, it is well considered to be 'the' English title for this movie, according to wikipedia page, but also the production/distribution company behind the movies.

The original French version is already a part of the rename database, and this is the tricky situation where Foreign title is same as English title. Technically it is a remake and I could add it as such (without the Roman numeral), but that would have made more sense if they actually planned to repeat the French 4-part series, so I decided to opt this one out a while ago.

IMDb shows Dark Fury in movie connections to be past the 2nd movie, so it was produced/created after the movie. Most likely to serve as optical media bonus. So technically it is 3rd movie that act as 'Prequel' to 2nd, but you are right if somebody watches the series and has the cartoon/CG version they should/want to see it before 2nd. So I've adjusted position and added 'Prequel' to clarify this.

Also thanks for clarifying that the subtitle is finally known on the 3rd movie, although it seems to be still up in the air as it is not used yet on the main details page, but I don't mind adding this one for the time being.

As for "Pitch Black" vs "The Chronicles Of Riddick: Pitch Black", I personally still prefer to go by the original first title. The 2nd movie actually had working title of "Pitch Black 2: The Chronicles Of Riddick". Maybe I'm nostalgic on the quality of the first one when it first came out, but otherwise it would result in the weird "The Chronicles Of Riddick II: The Chronicles Of Riddick" title. I do like your "The Chronicles Of Riddick II: The Movie" solution, but then I'm sure there is going to be somebody else that wants:

Thanks, I am quite happy with the common DB setup as long as there is an option to override it in my custom DB. But for the sake of the argument I will disagree with you on a couple of points:

- Taxi remake is actually one of these funny looking cases why I prefer sorting to rely explicitly on numbers (a la "taxi 1" etc). If remake is not renamed, I have this funny looking list:

* Taxi (this is US 2004 remake, sorted on "taxi")
* Taxi Driver (this is completely unrelated movie, sorted on "taxi driver")
* Taxi I (this is original French 1998 movie, sorted on "taxi i")
* Taxi II (sequel on "taxi ii") etc

I think in this case it makes sense to group related Taxi movies together. Relying on Roman numerals sorting has a side effect of unexpected sorting (i.e. in this case "Taxi Driver" is sorted before "Taxi" series, where one would expect the other way around; this can be worked around, as I mentioned, by sorting on "taxi 1", "taxi 2" etc). Don't know how common these cases are (probably not very common ), so I don't care all that much. But the list above (with broken list of related movies) just looks weird.

- On Riddick: it is true, when they were working on the second movie, it was knows as Pitch Black 2. However, once TCoR was out, I believe they renamed the whole series and standardized on TCoR brand. Wikipedia mentions this (I know, this is not a reference), but if you go to the official site for Pitch Black, it shows as The Chronicles of Riddick: Pitch Black.

Amazon though decided to keep it simple, and called these Riddick Trilogy (and they're screwed when the new movie will be out).

Now, it's up to you how to deal with the common DB - what I really like about IMDB+, is that it's so flexible. I can always rename stuff the way I want, so thanks again for the awesome plugin!
