A solution for audio levelling? (1 Viewer)

At the moment different sources I play through MP produce radically different volumes. For instance:
- Most movies & TV shows I need to up the volume to at or near max to get the volume I want
- BBC iPlayer is so loud that I have to put the MP volume to minimum
- TV is somewhere in the middle

I was just wondering if there is anything that can be done about this, ideally some way to make all video sources produce audio at a similar level?

Most htpcs have a microphone jack. The only solution I see is to have a microphone listen and compensate on the fly.

Do I think to complicate?

Hi,

I have the same issue - but for me the only issue is iplayer being so loud.

To get around this I use ffdshow audio with profiles. As the only flash content I play is iplayer, I can get away with creating a profile where the volume is at 33% - this brings iplayer volume inline with my other content.

I suppose you could try the normalise option??

Doesn't the MyVolume plugin sort out the volume issues by remembering each volume setting for each TV channel, movie, series etc, etc.

What you try to achieve is called "normalization".

You should be able to do this by using ffdshow as a post-process filter and enable "Audio Normalization", but I must admit that I never tried...

Yep I use the Sound drivers own loudness Equalisation as well, works perfect on those 5.1 dts with quiet voice tracks.
