All,

I am currently using My Films to host one Movie Database (ANT) on a network share and allow multiple MP machines to access this database and a central store of DVDs. I do this so I do not have to edit the database on each MP machine.

Works well..... but.....

My Films only supports 3 Skins. I like the Spinsafe Revolve skin and want to change.

Therefore - can someone tell me if it is possible to use the standard MP database on one of my machines, but have all machines on the network SHARE this database?

Thanks,

Rubin.

Maybe not something you'd like, but the only solution as far I know is creating a batch script which would copy over the database to other machines.
SQLite doesn't really like simultaneous access to the same file, and you may be getting corruptions of the database.

rdhillon, I'd be interested if you could give me more info on how you are doing this please? I run 3 clients with all my films on a network share as well and get fed up with having to update 3 clients for imdb info etc.

    It's actually easy.

First you must set up a network share that all the MP machines have access to. Then download the (free) ANT Movie Catalogue tool. Create your database in this tool and store the database on the network share.

Then install the MyFilms plugin on all MP machines. Have them access the database from the central share.

This works well for me, although you must manually update the central database every time you update your movie library. Better than having to update the database on all of your machines though.

AND now Zebons has updated MyFilms so it supports the Spinsafe Revolve skin. So life is good again.
