adding regular tv card to laptop? (1 Viewer)

I'm thinking of buying a second hand laptop that has a broken screen to use as my media center. i'm just wondering if it is possible to add a regular tv card (ie for a desktop) to a laptop? also is there a way to attach a regular Hard drive(without usb)?

impossible to attach/install a PCI device (TV-Card)

only way is to use a USB/firewire Tuner.
a notebook HDD has enought "power" for an HTPC and is very quite (pruduces less noise then a desktop HDD)

There are plenty of USB / Firewire options available. While they may not be hardware encoding you'd still get decent use out of them.
