Hello

On my Windows XP computer in the TV server configuration the address of the "Recording folder" in -- Recording > Folders --
is listed as
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Shared Documents\Recorded TV

However, in Windows Explorer my files are saved in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\recordings

Where can I find the address of the files I recorded in Media Portal?

The reason I want to know is that I have another computer with Windows 7 and I cannot find the folder where the recorded files are? Where can I find them? I want to play them with VLC Media Player.

Your help would be appreciated
Regards Richard

You've got to share the folder with your recordings for network. Then you're able to find it from your win 7.

If you can't see your folder with your recordings in windows explorer on the xp-system, then make sure you are allowed to see all folders within systemfolders and systemdata to find under extra-options in explorer.

Sorry for my bad english.

Your tv-server is on you xp-machine, right?
There you have to share the folder. In the menu where you make the share, you can see the shares name for the network.

Under win 7 you got on the left side of the explorer the possibility to choose computer or network.
In the network-tree there should appear the xp-computer. By choosing this one there should be shown the shares of it. Just open the share. In top of explorer, where you can enter directly pathes, there should be shown the complete path of the share.

The other way could be, that you just install on win 7 a mediaportal client.
A client can be installed by unchecking the 1click-installation. Then you are able to choose client to be installed.

Hello

No. I have a TV aerial and tuner stick and MediaPortal installed on my Windows 7 computer. I also have a tuner card connected to a TV aerial and MediaPortal installed on my Windows XP computer. I know how to share folders on computer networks. What I am saying is that I am able to find the folder where my recorded files are on my Windows XP computer but I cannot find the folder on my Windows 7 computer.

On my Windows XP computer in Windows Explorer my files are saved in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\recordings . This is a different address to any of the addresses I have seen in MediaPortal. In the TV server configuration, the address of the "Recording folder" in -- Recording > Folders --
is listed as
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Shared Documents\Recorded TV

On my Windows 7 computer I cannot see the “Application Data” folder or the “recordings” folder. There is a folder for “Recorded TV” but it is empty.

For my Windows 7 machine, do you know what the name of the folder my files are recorded in and it’s likely address?

Regards Richard.

The path to your recordings you can find in tvserver configuration .
Copy the path an paste in explorer. Now the recordings should be shown.
If you can't see the folder in your explorer, make sure you can see all folders under extra-folderoptions in register view.
To get the button for options press ALT in explorer.

You can define under tvserver configuration a folder you want to record.

Hello

I had a look on my Windows XP computer where I have MediaPortal installed and know where my video files are saved.

In TV server configuration > recording > folders C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Shared Documents\Recorded TV is listed but it is empty in Windows explorer.

The below folder is where my video recordings are saved in Windows Explorer. However, I could not see this folder listed in the MediaPortal program.
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\recordings

Do you know where this folder is listed in the MediaPortal configuration? If I could work this out I may be able to locate where the folder with my videos are on my Windows 7 computer.

Your help is appreciated
Regards Richard

Hi

Isn't the address of your recording folder in Windows Explorer different to the adress listed in MediaPortal TV server configuration > recording > folders C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Shared Documents\Recorded TV

I have looked everywhere for the recording folder in Windows Explorer on my Windows 7 computer but still cannot find it. Do you know who could help?

Please see my last question.

Hi Richard
To try and help I will need to know a couple of things.
do you have the show hidden files folders and drives option checked under folder options on your Windows machine as if it is in the Application Data folder; called appdata in windows 7 it will be a hidden folder.

What is the path listed by TV-Server configuration as the only one you have quoted is from your XP machine. If you can quote the path as allthough I use windows 7 I have moved my recording folder away from the C: drive.

The default path for windows 7 appears to be
C:\Users\Public\Recorded TV

I hope I can help

Wiktor.

I really want to use MP instead of WMC............but it's being challenging to say the least

Any help would be greatly appreciated
