I do know that it isn't possible to play mkv files with subtitles & DXVA.
How ever I would like to have subtitles on other video files.

Is it possible to enable subtitles when playing an xvid files with srt subtitles?
Is it some how possible to have DirectVobSub enabled for all other video files than mkv's?

Thanks!

Sure it is possible. Go to MediaPortal Configuration --> Movie Post Processing and add DirectVobSub. Make sure that the box is ticked. That is how I have set up my MP and it works without a hitch.

This comment is not true. DXVA and subtitles can co-exist, media player classic homecinema + MPC DXVA decoder does handle this under EVR custom renderer very well.

Ok, so I meant that it isn't possible in MP without an external player.

I'll give that one a try. But does Automatic Refresh rate Changer work with an external player?
I don't think so.

The internal movie player MUST support subtitles at last. Using VSFilter external filter does not give many options (for example, you cannot change language of the subtitles within internal player, unless they exist inside a container). Subtitle and external audio track support is a must for the internal movie player.
